Why the name

ClipFlap is "clip" plus the flap of a film clapperboard, the slat that snaps shut when a take starts. The brand mark is that slat, and it is the gesture the product makes on every episode: one take in, the usable moments out. It is written ClipFlap, in one word, and lives at clipflap.com. It has nothing to do with the animation app FlipaClip, nor with the endoscopy technique of the same name.

What it does

Paste the link of an episode, or upload the file. ClipFlap transcribes it word by word, finds the moments that stand on their own, reframes each one vertically with face tracking or a split screen when two people alternate, and burns in word-by-word captions with the typography of the language spoken. Each clip comes back with a cover card, a title, a score and hashtags, ready to download or publish.

The part most tools get wrong is the language. French captions keep French punctuation and elisions. Arabic captions are written in the dialect actually spoken, Moroccan Darija or Gulf Arabic, never rewritten into standard Arabic, and laid out right to left with connected letters.

How it is priced

Who is behind it
