HOW MINUTES WORK
How ClipFlap counts your minutes
Every plan comes with a monthly budget of input-video minutes. One episode sent in is what you spend; the clips you get back are free. This page spells out the rules so the number on your dashboard never surprises you.
What is counted: the video you send in
A sixty-minute episode uses sixty minutes. If you select a twenty-minute range of that episode before submitting, only those twenty minutes count. The duration of what enters the pipeline is the whole cost.
The number of clips ClipFlap produces does not change it. Three clips or twelve from the same episode cost exactly the same, and so do captions, caption styles, output formats, cover titles, clip scores, thumbnails and downloads.
What is never counted
The following never touch your balance:
- Retrying a job that failed
- Re-rendering a clip after editing its cover title
- Every caption style, typeface and output format
- Downloads, thumbnails, clip scores and captions text
- A job that fails on our side — the reservation is released
When minutes are reserved, and when they are confirmed
When you submit, the minutes of the duration you chose are reserved so that two submissions can never exceed your plan together. Once the video is downloaded, its real length confirms the amount.
Cutting a range lands on a video keyframe, so the file can be a fraction of a second longer than what you selected. You are charged what you selected, never that tail: a sixty-minute selection on a sixty-minute balance goes through.
Monthly renewal and bonus minutes
Included minutes renew on your billing date, on monthly and yearly plans alike. Minutes you did not use do not carry over to the next month.
Referral minutes are added to the current period. When you cancel, the minutes already paid for stay available until the end of the period.
What each plan includes
Minutes of input video per month, renewed on your billing date. Every plan has every feature; only the budget changes.
- Free trial — 10 minutes, no card, small watermark on clips
- Starter — 60 minutes a month, $10/month
- Essential — 150 minutes a month, $20/month
Questions about minutes
Does a 10-minute trial really process 10 minutes?+
Yes. Select exactly 10 minutes and the job runs. The trial adds a small ClipFlap watermark to clips; paid plans do not.
Is a longer clip list more expensive?+
No. The cost is the duration of the source you sent in, whether ClipFlap returns three clips or twelve.
What if the episode is longer than my remaining minutes?+
The form limits the range you can select to what your balance covers, and tells you so. Choose the part of the episode you want, or add minutes.
Are retries or title edits charged?+
Never. A failed job releases its reservation, and re-rendering a clip after a title change costs nothing.
