Timestamp links for clip notes and show notes

Timestamped links are the quickest way to point someone at a passage: a guest who wants to share their best answer, an editor who needs to know where a clip starts, or show notes that let listeners jump to a chapter. The start time travels in the link as a number of seconds, so it works in messages, comments and documents alike.

When you are marking clips, add the end time as well: the tool shows the duration, which tells you straight away whether the passage fits a 60-second Short or needs trimming.

How do I link to a specific time in a YouTube video?+

Add ?t= followed by the number of seconds to a youtu.be link, for example youtu.be/VIDEO_ID?t=90 to start at 1:30. This tool builds that link from any YouTube URL and any time format.

Do timestamp links work on YouTube Shorts?+

Shorts links are converted to the regular video link so the time can apply. Shorts are short enough that most people link to the start.

Can I set an end time?+

YouTube links do not support an end time for normal viewing. The end time here is used to calculate the duration of the passage, which is useful when you plan a clip.

Is the link shortened by a third-party service?+

No. It is YouTube's own youtu.be short form with the time added; nothing passes through ClipFlap or a link shortener.
